Matt Hardy Shares Why AEW All Out 2024’s Syringe Spot Stood Out and Bothered Him the Most

Matt Hardy Explains Why AEW All Out 2024 Syringe Spot Was Most Disturbing

Matt Hardy, no stranger to extreme wrestling, believes there are still boundaries that shouldn’t be crossed.

On a recent episode of “The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy,” he expressed his discomfort with the syringe spot involving Swerve Strickland and “Hangman” Adam Page at AEW All Out 2024.

“The syringe moment, where Swerve had it stuck in his cheek, really stood out to me,” Hardy explained. “It felt unnecessary and out of sync with the storyline, like it was included just for shock factor rather than contributing to the match’s narrative.”

He compared it to a previous moment in WWE when Randy Orton used Jeff Hardy’s piercings against him, specifically utilizing a screwdriver pulled from a tool kit. Hardy pointed out that tools naturally fit within a wrestling environment.

“I get why Orton would use a screwdriver—it makes sense. But syringes under the AEW ring? That’s a stretch. It felt disconnected from the match and didn’t align with the story.”

Hardy also touched on the negative associations syringes have in wrestling, especially given the sport’s past issues with steroids and drug abuse. “Back in the late ’90s, drugs like ketamine were widely abused, so syringes have a heavy stigma. That’s part of why the syringe spot bothered me the most,” Hardy concluded.
